Thank you for choosing BabyDog and/or Tomey K9 Services to help you and your dog. We promise to put your dog's health and welfare at the top of our priority list while providing you with our services.
We will provide the specific services (from among private dog training, semi-private dog training, group dog training, puppy socialization, all ages pack walks) (the “Services”) that you and BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services agree to from time to time. The maximum age for a puppy in a socialization class is 8 months. All of the Services are subject to availability, and BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services reserves the right to decline to provide any of the Services for any reason in its sole discretion.
Current prices for the Services are as set out on our website. Those prices are subject to change without notice. For Training and Pack Walks, payments are accepted by Credit Card, e-Transfer (sent to payments@babydog.ca), cash or cheque (payable to “BabyDog or Tomey K9 Services”), and are due in full prior to your first session. We are professional dog trainers, and it's critical to the functioning of our business that our schedule be predictable so we can show up on time and give you and your dog our full attention.
In order to make sure that we can respect our appointments with our clients who are scheduled before and after you, we have designed the following policies.
Group training is a scheduled 4-week curriculum, if you miss a class, there is no refund, transfer, make-up class, or credit possible for the individual class times. We ask that you make sure you can attend all 4 classes before booking.
If you need to, you may transfer the entire set of 4 classes to a later offering with us, with no fee charged if you notify us with more than 1 weeks notice
If you have to cancel, the following conditions apply:
Although family members are encouraged to attend training sessions, we recommend that your dog always has consistent handlers throughout the training period. Since our programs are designed to train the handler as well as the dog, the quality of the training results will be compromised if different handlers attend different sessions.
BabyDog and Tomey K9 Services do not guarantee results with any dog training or socialization program. We promise only to provide you with the tools necessary to handle and train your dog, but your dog’s environment, breed, personality, nature, temperament and background, as well as your own consistency, commitment to homework assignments and ability to understand and carry out techniques, will greatly influence the results obtained with training and socialization. During a training session, the trainer may direct the handler to handle the dog or may recommend that the trainer take over portions of the dog’s handling. The final decision to have the trainer take over the handling of the dog is yours unless the trainer deems it unsafe to have you continue handling the dog. Early and ongoing socialization, obedience training and genetics all play a role in your dog’s behaviour. Early and ongoing participation in our socialization programs will give your dog a stronger foundation in social etiquette.
You are required to provide your dog with a safety leash, collar or harness (we recommend a snug-fitting flat collar for puppy socialization class), current dog license (for dogs 4 months old and up) and identification tags. We recommend that your dog also have a tattoo and/or microchip for added security. If your dog has a history of aggression towards people, dogs or other animals, it must wear a muzzle at all times while BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services is providing the Services.
To participate in any group class or walk, your puppy/dog must have completed its first two sets of core vaccinations (rabies, distemper, parvovirus and adenovirus) plus kennel cough (bordetella), and must remain up to date with all such vaccinations and booster shots during the entire time that the Services are provided. As well, depending on its age, your dog should receive a regular course of preventative tick, worm and flea treatment. If you have any concerns please ask us about the AVSAB guidelines. Your dog should not be fed less than 90 minutes before any class. Eating before play/activity is a risk factor for bloat (excess accumulation of air and fluid) and volvulus (twisted stomach). These conditions can be fatal. You will not bring your dog to any socialization or group training program if they are coughing, sneezing, wheezing, vomiting, producing mucus or showing any other symptoms of illness or contagion, and BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services may decline to include your dog in such program if it arrives with any such symptoms or develops such symptoms during the program.
During the Services, you may take still photos of dogs, but no people may appear recognizably in the images without their prior consent. As well, you will not make any video or audio recordings or use any recording devices (cameras, webcams, camcorders, cell phones, tablets, etc.) during the Services without BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services' prior consent.
I grant to BabyDog and/or Tomey K9 Services, its employees, contractors and other representatives the right to take photographs and/or make video recordings of my puppy/dog. I authorize BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services to freely use and disseminate such photographs and recordings in print and/or electronically without my name and for any lawful purpose, including for example, for publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content.
If your dog is under our care and control and we are unable to reach you, we may at our absolute discretion obtain veterinary services for your dog in the case of a medical emergency. In such event, we will transport your dog to the nearest 24-hour veterinary hospital and contact you. You are solely responsible for the cost of the veterinary care that your dog receives. We recommend that you authorize both Victoria-area 24-hour veterinary clinics (Central Victoria and Central Saanich) to use your credit card to pay for treatment. This recommendation is made to ensure that urgent life-saving efforts are not delayed due to payment delays at the clinic. If the clinic refuses to provide care to your dog because of payment delays, BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services is not obligated to pay on your behalf, although BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services may choose to do so. If BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services does pay for treatment of your dog, you will immediately reimburse BabyDog/Tomey K9 Services in full.
